A Man After God’s Heart

I was reading New Morning Mercies and 1 Sam 13 this morning, and the Lord reminded me of the type of man he is looking for to rule his kingdom.  We spent a few months talking about whether we could be entrusted with dominion over the kingdom God has appointed to us. In 1 Sam 13, Samuel reminded Saul (after he disobeyed the Lord’s command) that the Lord is looking for a man seeking God’s heart. Read this:

1 Samuel 13:14

But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought out a man after his own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.”

So, to know whether we can be entrusted with the kingdom appointed to us, we must be about becoming intimate with God’s heart.  How? Prayer, reading/meditating on the Word, Listening, Community with others, having the intentionality to press into His heart.

Whjat is my heart seeking today, truly?
